Legendary Rapper KRS-One on KayvonTV in Toronto’s City Hall: Talking Eminem Relapse record and Vibe Magazine

Thursday, June 11th, 2009

When I heard Hip hop legend and grand rapper KRS-One was going to be at Toronto’s City Hall (sitting in the Mayor’s seat no less!) for his Stop The Violence movement tour. I thought it would be the perfect time for me KayvonTV crew to catch up with KRS and talk about some important issues in the urban entertainment world today. After all, we had a great first interview back at Canadian Music Week 2007.

I first wanted to know how a legend like KRS-One feels about this VIBE Magazine BEST RAPPER EVER showdown their running and their decision to seed Eminem at number 1.

While KRS does give serious props to Eminem’s new record Relapse – KRS and myself, for a second, did wonder if 50 Cent might have ghost-written ‘3 AM’ for Eminem?

KRS also shared his feelings about the all important autotune issue (D.O.A.) and much more including a special message Mr. One had just for Eminem.

A truly fantastic episode from Toronto’s City Hall that has KRS-One with some surprising words, questions, and even a little advice for Eminem.

“VIBE Magazine doesn’t have the authority to say who is anything in hip hop – Their barely making it in hip hop. ” – KRS-One on KayvonTV, June 2009

KayvonTV interviews NHL Hall of Famer Paul Coffey and TSN’s Rod Black @ the Bell Celebrity Gala

Tuesday, May 13th, 2008

With the NHL’s Stanley Cup Playoffs in full gear, I figured this would be the perfect time to post my interview with former NHL great Paul Coffey. Paul is known as one of the greatest offensive defenceman of all-time. Paul played for the NHL’s Pittsburgh Penguins, Hartford Whalers, Philadelphia Flyers, Detroit Red Wings, and most notably, the Edmonton Oilers, where he teamed with Mr.Wayne Gretzky, Mark Messier, and my favorite hockey player of all-time, Glenn Anderson to win several Stanley Cups.
Coffey gave me the low down on his retirement plans, his childhood playing days with my good buddy Rocket, and his thoughts on Mark Messier being inducted into the Hockey Hall of Fame.
What a great guy! an absolute legend in the flesh folks! This guy has won Stanley Cups with both Wayne Gretzky and Mario Lemieux, and helped redefine the roll of a defenceman in the modern NHL.

KayvonTV meets “Mr.Hockey” Gordie Howe and Tyler Stewart of the Barenaked Ladies after the NHL awards in downtown Toronto, Ontario, Canada.

Saturday, May 3rd, 2008

With the National Hockey League’s Stanley Cup Playoffs in full bloom, I thought this would be the perfect time to flash back to last years’ NHL Awards and my surprise encounter with none other than “Mr.Hockey” himself, the legendary Gordie Howe.
Gordie is one of the greatest players to ever lace up the skates! He is an NHL Hall of Famer who played for the Detroit Red Wings and Hartford Whalers of the National Hockey League (NHL). Mr.Hockey also played with the Houston Aeros and New England Whalers in the World Hockey Association (WHA).
The funny or ironic thing was that I bumped into former NHL great and one of Gordie’s longtime fellow teammates in none other than Mr. Tony McKegney! Unfortunately, however, the focus and attention I had on Mr.McKegney seemed to all of a sudden have abruptly ended when Mr.Howe’s presence became known outside of the stage door of the storied Elgin & Winter Garden Theatre in downtown Toronto, Ontario, Canada! In fact, the hockey fans gathered around outside there were in absolute awe and a frenzy was soon let loose on the beloved hockey god himself! Quite the scene it was there indeed!
I also ran into Tyler Stewart of legendary Toronto band, the Barenaked Ladies. Mr.Stewart was indeed very happy to see me! We chatted for a bit with each other! It was fantastic really! I just hope he remembered to say hi to my fellow Englishman and former NHL great, Mr. Steve ‘Stumpy’ Thomas! I do really admire Stumpy and his charismatic ways! For afterall, he was one of the true gentlemen and consumate professionals (much like Mr.Hockey and the Great One) to ever have played in both the American Hockey League (AHL) and the NHL during his fantastic career! A real competitor and gritty leader he was in the sport of ice hockey nonetheless, who was the heart n’ soul of the Toronto Maple Leafs and the Chicago Blackhawks for many years during his time in the NHL!
All in all a great night it truly was and a really fun time had by all in attendance that evening! Pure magic! In fact folks, I can hardly wait for the 2008 edition of the NHL Awards ceremonies here in Hockey Town to start all over again! Quite simply put: the NHL still is the coolest game on earth! Cheers to the legend of Mr.Hockey! Game On!

KayvonTV meets NBA Hall of Famer Moses Malone before the 76ers take on the Raptors at the ACC.

Sunday, April 20th, 2008

The NBA playoffs are fast approaching, so I thought this would be a appropriate time for us to post an episode featuring a memorable encounter that I had with NBA legend Moses Malone, that’s right folks, the “Mailman” himself.
Moses Malone was a first ballot Naismith Basketball Hall of Famer and was named one of the 50 greatest basketball players in NBA history.
He was a 3 time NBA MVP, 12 time NBA All-Star, and ranks third all-time behind only Wilt Chamberlain and Kareem Abdul-Jabbar for most points scored. He was also the first player to ever go directly from high school to the pros, whem at the age of 18 he signed with the Utah Stars of the now defunked ABA.
Needless to say I am a big fan of the Mailman, so it was a real thrill to see him in the flesh boarding the team bus before the Philadelphia Sixers faced the Toronto Raptors at the Air Canada Center.
I wish he would have been a bit nicer to me, maybe signed an autograph or two for me, perhaps like his former teammate (and current Sixers coach) Maurice “Mo” Cheeks was.
Well you can win them all Folks, after all this is Toronto, where even megastars like myself can’t score Raptors playoff tickets!!
GO RAPS!!!

KayvonTV greets Hayley Atwell and Kenneth Branagh at TIFF

Wednesday, September 12th, 2007

What a truly fantastic morning. While Woody Allen was a little tough to catch up to – the star of his new movie, Hayley Atwell, was kind enough to autograph my Sharpie Pink Ribbon Jersey. Even managed to later meet a truly fantastic actor, director, producer and fellow Brit Kenneth Branagh.
