Kayvon and KayvonTV gets mentioned in Sports Illustrated!

Tuesday, August 18th, 2009

I was reading the current issue of Sports Illustrated when I was shocked to come across a paragraph mentioning Kayvon and KayvonTV in an article by sportswriter Dan Rubenstein:

BCS vs. Congress

After Friday, the day Rep. Joe Barton (R-Texas) thoroughly dressed down ACC commissioner John Swofford about the existence of the BCS, four things were made abundantly clear:

1. Even if he did at one point compare it to communism, Barton knows what he’s talking about when addressing the inconsistencies of the BCS.

2. Swofford stood up for a system that is universally acknowledged to be a money grab. Even by Swofford.

3. It’s good to hear from Utah and Boise State, as they’ve been repeatedly cheated out of a lot of money (and possibly titles), but it would’ve been nice to see representatives from more powerful schools joining the chorus.

4. This isn’t anywhere near over, so stay tuned in the coming weeks.

Not that it’ll do anything, but somebody should make a documentary tearing down the BCS by badgering important college football figures for interviews. Clearly the obvious option here is Kayvon of KayvonTV, provided that the BCS harumph-harumphers do all of their business outside of Toronto’s luxury hotels. It could happen.

BIG thanks to Dan Rubenstien and SI!

KayvonTV catches up to world’s fastest man and Olympic champion USAIN Bolt at Toronto CN Tower

Wednesday, June 17th, 2009

After enjoying some delicious foods outside CN Tower off Bremner Blvd. – I headed over to the Front St. entrance of Toronto’s Tower (where the usual collection of autograph hounds were lurking) to greet Beijing Summer Olympics Gold Medalist and world record holder Usain Bolt who was just arriving in Toronto for his big race.

While it’s been more then a dozen years since sprinter Michael Johnson was in Toronto – who can forget his disastrous 1997 race against Mr. Donovan Bailey – Mr. Johnson is also in Toronto this week as part of the festivities surrounding the Bolt 100 metre race.

Legendary Rapper KRS-One on KayvonTV in Toronto’s City Hall: Talking Eminem Relapse record and Vibe Magazine

Thursday, June 11th, 2009

When I heard Hip hop legend and grand rapper KRS-One was going to be at Toronto’s City Hall (sitting in the Mayor’s seat no less!) for his Stop The Violence movement tour. I thought it would be the perfect time for me KayvonTV crew to catch up with KRS and talk about some important issues in the urban entertainment world today. After all, we had a great first interview back at Canadian Music Week 2007.

I first wanted to know how a legend like KRS-One feels about this VIBE Magazine BEST RAPPER EVER showdown their running and their decision to seed Eminem at number 1.

While KRS does give serious props to Eminem’s new record Relapse – KRS and myself, for a second, did wonder if 50 Cent might have ghost-written ‘3 AM’ for Eminem?

KRS also shared his feelings about the all important autotune issue (D.O.A.) and much more including a special message Mr. One had just for Eminem.

A truly fantastic episode from Toronto’s City Hall that has KRS-One with some surprising words, questions, and even a little advice for Eminem.

“VIBE Magazine doesn’t have the authority to say who is anything in hip hop – Their barely making it in hip hop. ” – KRS-One on KayvonTV, June 2009

Kayvon makes history greeting first ever visit to Toronto by NBA Oklahoma City Thunder and superstar Kevin Durant

Saturday, March 28th, 2009

It was a history making time in the fine city of Toronto today. The NBA’s newest member of their ultra exclusive club – The Oklahoma City Thunder made their first ever visit north of Lady Liberty’s border to play the Toronto Raptors in an evening match-up at the Air Canada Centre. The Thunder was formally the Seattle SuperSonics but in a battle of wits, money and greed among the superpowers who rein in the National Basketball Association – the team was ripped from Seattle and abruptly moved to Oklahoma.

It was both a pleasure and honour to meet one of my favorite ex-players – and now head coach Mr. Scott Brooks. As well, superstar player Kevin Durant took some time to sign autograph for us collectors.

As soon as my own meet-and-greet with the Thunder concluded – I bolted down to the ACC to meet my brother and take in the game which the Raptors went onto victorious circumstances when they won their third game in a row, 112-96 over the Oklahoma City Thunder.

My old buddy “JD” John Roberts was honored with a Canadian Music Week Broadcasters Hall of Fame induction

Friday, March 13th, 2009

What a truly fantastic event to kick off the opening night of Canadian Music Week. Former CITY-TV, and now CNN anchor John Roberts was honored with a Broadcasters Hall of Fame Induction. It seems everybody from 80’s Toronto came out to wish John well. Many of his old buddies from the CITY-TV days and even a few buddies from the current CNN days.
